Hi! My name is Jessica and I’m from Brooklyn, New York. I was indecisive in high school, so I applied here regular decision, but soon realized Wes was the placefor me! I am a Government and Italian Studies double major. As you can see, it’s pretty easy to double major here, and still really commit yourselves to both majors. For instance, I am part of the Government Majors Committee and will be a Course Assistant for Elementary Italian this Fall. I also studied abroad in Bologna, Italy the during spring semester of my junior year with Wesleyan’s ECCO program, which was an incredible experience.
Additionally, I am part of Wesleyan Media Project, which analyzes political campaign ads and helps create more transparency regarding money in politics. I am also involved in WesDEF (Wesleyan Diversity Education Facilitators), a student group dedicated to creating safe spaces on campus that promote dialogue about various social justice issues. In the past, we have led discussions about everything from gender neutral bathrooms on campus to Middletown/Wesleyan relations to Beyonce and feminism — so if you are interested in a great discussion, keep your eyes open for upcoming WesDEF events! I have also participated in Terpsichore, Wesleyan’s student run dance show, and been a Teaching Apprentice for a US History Course.
Contact me if you have questions about government or language studies at Wesleyan, study abroad, social justice initiatives on campus, or anything else! I am looking forward to meeting all of you!

Hello! My name is Rubye and I am a sophomore from Boston, MA. I applied early decision to Wes and have honestly never made a better choice. At the end of next semester, I hope to declare a Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (MB&B) and Spanish double major. As my intended majors show, I have pretty diverse/random interests. Thankfully, Wes lets me explore a ton of different options. Last year, aside from taking classes (both in and VERY FAR out of my majors), I was in Terpsichore—a student dance show—and acted in and student-directed play. In the coming years, I hope to continue participating in these activities as well as Peer Advising and possibly joining a lab.
I am on the younger end of the peer advisors and thus have less experience at Wesleyan; however, this also means that I can closely relate to the excitement, chaos, anxiety, and hopefulness that you are probably feeling. Please reach out to me any time at rpeyser@wesleyan.edu
Hi everyone, my name is Aleyda Castro and I am from Los Angeles, California. As a West Coast kid, I had no clue about liberal arts colleges in the East Coast until my junior year of high school. I’m part of a college access program that introduced me to so many opportunities, one of those was learning about Wesleyan. When I visited Wes during WesFest, I knew it was the perfect school for me. I will be starting my sophomore year in the fall of 2015 so I still have not declared my major. I’m considering double majoring in American Studies and Italian while also pursuing the Writing Certificate at Wes. I am looking forward to this school year and helping all of you transition to college. If you have any questions feel free to ask me at apcastro@wesleyan.edu
Hi everybody! I am a senior double majoring in French and Government who enjoys learning about the world around me and international interactions. Last year, I studied abroad in Paris and did a bit of traveling in Europe and a lot of eating !!!! I’m still crying about how good the food was! As for extracurriculars, I am currently involved in the student group Wesleyan Women in Business (WesWIB), where I serve a strategy coordinator and in my free time, I enjoy cooking, dancing, and catching up with my favorite shows like How to Get Away with Murder! If you have any questions feel free to contact me at smike@wesleyan.edu
