So you went to the student groups fair…

Lots of you probably went to the student groups fair. There were literally hundreds of student groups there, all telling you to sign up for their listserv and at least a few of them might have convinced you. From the environment to a cappella to politics to zombie art, Wesleyan has a student group for just about anything you can imagine. And if you signed up, I’m telling you now to actually go!
It’s really easy to start getting the emails from the groups you signed up for and decide that the meeting time isn’t good or you’re too busy or you just don’t care that much. But whether it’s your first year or your last, student groups are a great part of Wesleyan’s culture that I strongly recommend you get involved in. It’s a good way to meet new people with similar interests, it can teach you things you can’t get inside the classroom, it can make your college experience much more meaningful, and it even looks good on a resume. Personally, I’m a senior and I didn’t get very involved until my junior, but since trying a few out, I’ve found some topics that I’m really passionate about that I would probably never have been exposed to anywhere else.
If you didn’t go to the student groups fair or didn’t sign up for any email lists, check out the directory of all registered student groups and see what interests you. And if you did go, actually read the emails!
