Meeting Your Peer Advisors in Person (!)
Aug. 29, 2012 by arashkoff
It’s that time of year!
During Orientation, it is the job of my Peer Advisor colleagues and I to make your transition to campus life as easy as possible. Hopefully you met some of us when you arrived this morning (we were among the students standing by to help you move into your residence hall). If not, then you met us at your residence hall meetings, when we introduced ourselves to you along with the ResLife staff.
We will see you again at your floor meetings, where we will pass out sign-up sheets for individual meetings on Thursday and Friday. At these individual meetings we will prepare you for your advisor meetings so that you’ll be in the best position to advocate for yourself during course registration, so make sure to sign up!
On Friday afternoon, we will assist with discussions regarding the material from the First Year Matters program so that you can both warm up your brain before classes start as well as get to know your classmates a little bit better.
Over the first two weeks of classes (also known as “extended orientation,”) we will be leading a variety of study skills workshops to give you some fresh strategies and a boost of confidence for your first Wesleyan semester. We will also begin holding office hours on First Year residence halls. Approach us with any further questions, or to introduce yourself and say hi.
